Beginning with Clomid

Clomiphene Citrate Test (Clomid test)

A test which combines blood work, including follicle stimulating hormone called FSH and estradiol (E2) both before and after taking clomiphene citrate for 5 days.

It is a test designed to assess ovarian reserve, or a general evaluation of remaining egg supply. The test in combination with a woman’s age and her number of small follicles containing oocytes (eggs) seen via ultrasound can be used to guide treatment choices and likelihood for success.

Here is what they told me, when I went through this.

1. I had to call the Dr. Office on Cycle day 1
2. On cycle day 2, 3 or 4 I went to the Dr. Office for blood draw and FSH, E2 levels.
3. Cycle day 5-9 I had to take 2- 50 mg tablets of clomiphene per day.
4. Cycle day 10 return to the Dr.’s office for blood draw and e2 levels.

This was the easy one. It’s simple and you get to have a lot more sex. My husband loved this treatment regimen. The bottom-line with this treatment is they make you have a lot of follicles (which are the little cases that hold the eggs) So your husband doesn’t need great aim. He just needs to get one to connect with the follicle and you will have a baby. You know that didn’t happen to me but I think the process is well worth it. Especially if you don’t have insurance to cover this. I will talk more about insurance later.
